NO need to install SCIM, follow the following procedure, it is easier than the procedure narrated in this page.

You can write Bangla using Unijoy system in Ubuntu 9.10 & 10.04.
Just follow the following procedure -
1. Go to System > Preferences > IBus Preferences
2. Select ‘Input Method’ tab, then click on the ‘Select an input method’. Then select Bengali > unijoy (m17n). Then click on the ‘Add’ button.
3. Then select ‘General’ tab & remember the Keyboard Shortcuts for ‘Enable or disable’ and ‘Next input method’. You can change them according to your preference. Click on ‘Close’.
4. Open OpenOffice.org Word processor or your browser(e.g. Firefox), use the keyboard shortcuts for enabling & changing input method & keep on writing Bangla anywhere you like.

খুব সুন্দর লেখা। কিন্তু এই পদ্ধতিতে ওপেনঅফিস থ্রিতে বাংলা লেখা যাচ্ছে না। আমার উবুণ্টু ৮.০৪ এ ওপেনঅফিস ২.৪ অার ৩ দুটোই আছে। ২.৪ এ লেখা যাচ্ছে কিন্তু ৩ এ লেখা যাচ্ছে না।

কোন সমাধান আছে কি?
